An audition can create opportunity for a few people while leaving everyone else exactly where they began. An ecosystem asks a larger question: what can exist around the group so that participation produces value even when someone is not cast in a principal role?
“Five roles are a production. Relationships that keep generating work are an ecosystem.”
Workshops can connect artists with coaches and one another. Local showcases can give developing acts a stage. Partnerships can link musicians, dancers, filmmakers, costume makers, engineers, historians, venues, and youth programs. Documentation can share useful process without pretending there is one path into the industry.
Hidden Tide may begin as a specific ensemble, but it should not hoard the horizon. If the work helps another group form, a choreographer meet a director, a singer discover a producer, or a Sacramento audience expect ambitious local performance, the current becomes wider. Five roles are a production. Relationships that keep generating work are an ecosystem.
